Impala Pictures is a company based in Bristol, UK headed up by documentary film-maker Patrick Morris.


Patrick is an executive producer, writer and producer/director who has been making wildlife and environmental documentaries for more than thirty five years. He has built a strong reputation for powerful storytelling and excellence in film craft, working with the very best talent in the industry. 


He has consistently delivered films to the highest editorial standards, twice winning Best of Festival at Jackson Wild and three times Best Limited Series, as well as a four Wildscreen pandas, three Best of Festival awards at IWFF Missoula, and many other Royal Television Society, BAFTA and EMMY awards and nominations. 


As well as providing Patrick’s services as a top creative, Impala Pictures collaborates on independent co-productions for film and television. It recently co-produced the award-winning special Canada: Surviving the Wild North for PBS Nature and Terra Mater Factual Studios, and a series of films for the BBC One Show. It now has funded development for some exciting new projects.

  

Patrick is also a series director and producer/director on ZED’s landmark series Wild Treasures of China, a writer and executive producer on Le cinquième rêve’s feature length documentary War of the Flowers and is producing/directing Europe’s Wild Kingdoms for Blue Ant Media. He was also a consulting writer and field director on the Disneynature film Sea Lions of the Galapagos which recently won best animal behaviour at Wildscreen 2025.  


Prior to this Patrick was an executive producer, series producer, producer/director and writer on many acclaimed series including The Future of Nature, China’s Wild Empire, The Age of Nature, Kalahari: Land of Secret Alliances, Thailand: Earth’s Tropical Paradise, Mexico: Earth’s Festival of Life, Wild West, Life, British Isles: A Natural History, Wild Europe and Wild Africa for  clients including BBC, National Geographic, PBS, CCTV, ARTE, Discovery, France Télévisions, Blue Ant Media, ORF and ZDF. 


Patrick also wrote and directed the highly ambitious BBC Earth theatrical film Enchanted Kingdom and giant screen Wild Africa 3D, and has produced and written over a dozen notable wildlife specials including Dune, Hokkaido: Garden of the Gods, People of the Sea, The Lions Share, Wings over the Serengeti and Islands in the African Sky. 


His work has also been honoured with a Peabody award from the University of Georgia, with the festival director describing his film Galapagos: Born of Fire as ‘a stunning blend of visuals, music and narration … one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen’.
